NE Build & Grow 의 Reading 시리즈의 하나로 Reading Sponge는 총 3권으로 이루어져있어요. 제가 이번에 리뷰할 교재는 그 中 Reading Sponge 2권입니다. Nature/Jobs/Entertainment/Body/Special Days 총5개의 섹션으로 나뉘어져있으며 각 섹션별로 4개의 unit들로 구성되어있습니다. 초등 저학년들이 흥미를 가질수 있는 주제들로 fiction과 nonfiction 을 적절히 섞여있어 학습하는데 전혀 지루함이 없을것같아보여요. Unit2 Hello Rainbow!의 Theme는 Nature 관련 과목은 과학이고 Fiction입니다. [Words to Read] 본문에 나오는 단어들을 미리 연습하고 익히는 과정으로 그림을 보고 매치시키는 파트입니다.실사로 실려있어 더 쉽게 매칭시킬수 있어보여요 다음으로는 본문 Reading part가 나옵니다. 앞에서 익힌 단어들이 하이라이트 되어있어요! 한번 연습했던 단어들이라 Reading에 어려움이 없겠죠?! 본문 파트에는 High-Frequency Words. 빈도수가 높은 단어들도 따로 짚어주고 있어요! 또 본문 아래쪽에는 Quick Check-Up이라고 본문내용을 읽고 잘 이해했는지 간단하게 체크할수있는 문제도 같이 실려있습니다. [Check for Understanding ] 본문을 잘 이해했다면 어렵지않게 풀 수있는 문제들이에요.글의 주제를 파악하고 문장의 뜻을 이해했는지의 문제들을 객관식으로 풀어볼수있답니다. [Focus on Skills] 본문의 내용들을 순서에 맞게 배열해보는 파트에요! 그림과 문장을 읽고 알맞은 순서를 숫자로 기입합니다. [Word Wise] 본문에서 익힌 단어들을 써보는 과정이에요. 빈칸에 알맞은 알파벳을 채우고 단어를 완성하고 알파벳 순서에맞게 단어를 나열해봅니다. 각 문장에 맞는 단어를 찾는 문제도 있네요! [Think and Share] 큰 네모칸에 색연필로 rainbow그림을 그려보고,본문내용과 관련된 질문을 해보며 Speaking해보는 파트도있어요. Reading Sponge는 리딩학습서이지만 writing과 speaking도 놓치지않도록 본문관련 문제들을 골고루 구성해두었어요. 책에 나오는 음원은 책과 함께 구성된 Audio CD로 들을수 있고,NE build & Grow 사이트에서 MP3파일로 다운받으시면 편리하게 사용하실수 있어요.사이트에는 MP3파일외에도 다양한 부가 학습자료들을 다운받을수 있어 활용도가 높습니다. Workbook은 총 4개의 파트로 주로 SB의 본문내용을 파악한 후 Writing연습을 좀 더 체계적으로 해볼 수 있어보입니다. 아무래도 쓰는양이 좀 있어보여 저학년 아이들은 하루에 SB,WB을 다 하기에는 좀 버거울수도 있어보여요. 아마도 공부방이나 학원에서는 SB으로 수업을 끝내고 WB을 숙제로 내주면 딱 적당할것같은데, 저는 엄마표로 하고있으니 Unit 하나를 2일정도로 나누어서 공부해보려고 해요. Reading Sponge는 미국 교과서를 바탕으로 최신 topic을 추출해 본격적 미국 교과 과정을 학습하기에 적합한 교재에요.
